Woven Heart Baskets

This is a Scandinavian Christmas tradition (with the red and white) but it seemed like a festive Valentine project as well. It's also something close to my heart as I remember making these with my mom as a child.

Here's what you need:
paper
scissors
tape or glue
a template - for this you either need a computer or cans and a ruler

 First make your template
On the computer - make two 3.25 inch circles and connect them with a 7" x 3.25 rectangle that bisects the circles. Draw a line down the middle of the the rectangle and then add another line on each side of the middle line so they are evenly spaced out.
If you're not using a computer you can use two cans and a ruler to make the template, trace around the cans and connect the circles with the ruler then draw 3 evenly spaced lines down the middle

Once you have your template cut it out
use this to cut out the paper you want to use for your heart
once you have that cut out, fold the paper in half, place template on the outside and cut along the 3 lines
now weave together to form your heart
weave each piece alternating through and around
once they're all woven together cut a strip of paper, fold it in half and tape or glue it inside to make a handle

Fill the baskets with whatever you'd like and share the love
